Fake Rolex Price Hikes, More MoonSwatch, And How To Properly Value A Watch
Welcome to our new weekend column. For those late comers who are “too busy with life” to read all the watch content in a week, think of it as a catch-up, and for those true friends who need extra help because they simply can’t get enough.” The “New Watch Preview” will feature new watches released in the past week, the “In Case You Missed It” collection of our favourites is worth a second look, “Time Culture” will highlight interesting articles from outside the Hodinkee universe, and “The Conversation” is where we respond to your comments. Grab your Saturday morning coffee, and let’s get started.
The weekend is finally here, which means LVMH Watch Week is just a (somewhat) distant memory. During the global trade show in Singapore, we saw a plethora of rolex quartz replica from Bulgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith. Meanwhile, Daniel Craig stopped by to say hello and remind us that MoonSwatch is still a very important thing in 2023. We even saw the latest offerings from Porsche Design and ended the week with various offerings from Alain Silberstein to Christopher Ward to Blancpain’s Collector’s Guide.
In our first business news report of the New Year, Mark Kauzlarich delves into the data behind Rolex’s recent price hike, exploring the past, present and future of the crown economy. If you’re stuck on a waiting list for a Rolex steel sports watch, this is a story you’ll want to read this weekend.
Sure, it may have been published yesterday, but we felt compelled to share it again – especially for those of you who miss the old Hodinkee, where each story was a million words long. (Our resident antique expert, Tony Traina, geeked out over this compilation of Fifty Fathoms. Make sure you’re sitting in a comfortable place to watch this one.
I think many of us have questions about how this process works from an auction or even insurance standpoint, whether we’re trying to sell a watch or just curious. We’re fortunate at “Dink” to have some pretty incredible colleagues. Our own Insurance Director, Marc Hajjar, recently sat down with Platform and used his years of knowledge on the subject to answer the tough questions about what is generally considered to be a problem shrouded in mystery. The reviews. 1. It was a very cool surprise that James Bond is one of my (if not) favourite fictional characters. (Second only to Batman and Indiana Jones). Regarding the luxury replica watches, I’m indifferent to the Swatch brand, but the collaboration with Omega is pretty cool. But since Daniel Craig wears it, I admit I might want to get one now.
Response. Could there be a better review than these two? Two sides of the coin. And the story itself gets to the heart of what MoonSwatch is beginning to represent – and why Craig was seen wearing it at last weekend’s National Board of Review Awards. $260 is expensive enough for those not used to seeing thousands of dollars in watches, but also cheap enough to pick and choose as you please. This reviewer’s shift from indifference to enthusiasm illustrates the MoonSwatch’s constant tearing through the known universe. Now, we can compare this to another reviewer who lamented the fact that Craig had worn the watch and that we continue to cover the MoonSwatch on Hodinkee. At this point, it’s a hard watch to ignore, and the hype is far from subsiding. Finally, we can thank James Bond for bringing a second wind to the MoonSwatch.
